ABB is investing in a new, state-of-the-art campus in Nanjing, China. With this investment, ABB will have a second Chinese campus dedicated to drive products in addition to its existing site in Beijing.
The Nanjing campus, which will see the consolidation of other ABB warehouses, will consist of a customer experience center, OEM Hub for product and application demonstrations and customer testing and training, as well as production and R&D facilities. The new Nanjing campus is designed to enhance local support for customers, expand service capabilities, and enable ABB to meet growing demand more efficiently. It will also benefit from an increased level of automation in the production of drives.
China remains one of the largest and most strategically important markets for the company, offering strong growth potential across multiple industrial sectors. Around 85% of ABB’s products that are sold in China are manufactured in China. This investment marks a significant step in strengthening ABB’s ‘local‑for‑local’ strategy and is aligned with the government’s efforts toward industrial energy efficiency.
The Nanjing campus, located in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta, one of China’s most important industrial clusters, offers strong logistical advantages, highly developed transportation infrastructure, and well-established local supplier networks. Together with ABB’s existing Beijing site, the two locations will form a coordinated operational network, enabling the company to deliver stable, reliable drive products manufacturing and a holistic customer service across China.
“Investing in Nanjing reflects our confidence in the long‑term potential of the Chinese market and our commitment to supporting customers closer to where they operate,” said Tuomo Hoysniemi, ABB Drive Products Division President. “This new campus will further enhance our local presence and help drive sustainable growth for our business in China.”
“The Nanjing campus exemplifies our commitment to intelligent and efficient manufacturing,” said Yu Wang, Head of Business Line China, ABB Drive Products. “With its energy-efficient design and highly automated production capabilities, this facility will streamline the entire process: from customer demand, intelligent production, to service support, delivery and end-to-end value chain covering the whole product lifecycle.”
The facility, which will include several new production lines, is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
