RS Components announces winner of DesignSpark ‘Summer of Sound’ design challenge

RS Components (RS) has announced the winner of the DesignSpark ‘Summer of Sound’ competition.

The competition was launched in June and closed in September and challenged DesignSpark community members to use technology to create an original musical design, such as creating a new musical instrument.

The winner was DesignSpark community member ‘mattybrad’, who receives £1500 of RS products. Selected as the best entry by a panel of judges, his winning project was a synthesizer-guitar hybrid instrument – it is played like a guitar but has the sound and functionality of a synthesizer.

Greig Cameron, DesignSpark Community Manager at RS, commented: “All of us at RS and DesignSpark congratulate mattybrad on winning the competition with his highly innovative synth-guitar design. We also want to send a huge thank you to everyone who entered the challenge.”

Full details of the winning project from mattybrad is available at www.rs-online.com/designspark/synth-guitar-summer-of-sound-challenge and all the competition entries are available at www.rs-online.com/designspark/summer-of-sound-winner.
