Linxens, a global leader in component-based solutions, and Presto Engineering, a leading provider of advanced ASIC design and production services, have announced a strategic collaboration on a next-generation platform of connected biosensors. The initiative was showcased at MEDICA 2025, the world’s largest medical trade fair, where Presto Engineering and Linxens shared the first results of this collaboration.
A biosensor platform concept for the next era of diagnostics
The collaboration lays the foundation for a scalable platform that integrates sensing, connectivity, and semiconductor intelligence into a single disposable device. By combining Presto’s next-generation ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) capabilities with Linxens’ expertise in flexible biosensor transducers, electrodes, antennas, and high-volume industrial manufacturing, the companies are working toward a biosensor platform that is powerful, cost-efficient, and adaptable across diverse applications.
The platform is designed around four guiding principles:
- affordability and disposability for cost-sensitive healthcare contexts,
- compact and lightweight construction enhanced comfort and usability,
- digital connectivity for standardized results
- industrial scalability supported by Linxens’ high-volume manufacturing expertise.
- design flexibility to support multiple formats and use cases
Broad potential across healthcare and beyond
Designed as a flexible, modular platform, the solution supports a wide range of use cases – from faster, contamination-free point-of-care testing and discreet wearable monitoring to rapid on-site analysis in food safety and environmental control. Its architecture enables quick adaptation to emerging diagnostic needs while preserving scalability and cost efficiency. By framing their initiative as a platform concept, Linxens Healthcare – Linxens’ dedicated health brand – and Presto Engineering aim to deliver faster workflows, enhanced portability for field or low-resource settings, and more comfortable, discreet monitoring devices that can improve patient adherence. In industrial and environmental contexts, it supports on-site testing of pathogens or contaminants, helping to ensure safety and deliver fast, digital results in process-critical environments.
Leadership perspectives
“This collaboration is about more than just a new concept — it’s about laying the foundation for a platform that makes connected diagnostics practical, affordable, and scalable for real-world healthcare,” said Pierre O. Beal, Healthcare Product Strategy Manager at Linxens Healthcare. “We see this as a basis for future innovation in testing and monitoring, empowering providers and patients with reliable digital data at the point of need.”
“From a technology standpoint, the breakthrough lies in embedding intelligence directly into the biosensor platform,” explained Frédéric Valentin, SVP Sales & Marketing at Presto Engineering. “Our next-generation silicon platform brings secure connectivity and advanced signal processing into a compact, disposable format. When combined with Linxens’ flexible electronics and industrial-scale manufacturing, it creates a versatile architecture that can be tailored to applications ranging from infectious disease testing to wearable patient monitoring.”
