Congratulations to Dr Navya Venkateshaiah, Lead Developer, who is celebrating her first anniversary with PowTechnology! We asked her to share her impressions after one year.
“It’s been fascinating, challenging and rewarding! I’ve been impressed by PowTechnology’s continuous investment in both new and existing products.
There is always something new being developed, tested or improved, whether that’s a customer-specific enhancement or a completely new solution.
One of the things I have enjoyed the most is the sheer variety of projects and industries, including fuel management, industrial monitoring, telemetry and tank monitoring systems. That variety is something I genuinely value about this role.
My background in IoT and software development has been highly relevant and there is always something new to learn! I’ve gained hands-on experience with cellular communication technologies, MQTT protocols for IoT messaging, cloud services and UI application development and then applied them to industrial IoT solutions.
It’s so exciting to see how connectivity, cloud and user interfaces come together to create a complete, functioning solution for a real industrial customer. There is a great deal of satisfaction in taking something complex and making it work seamlessly in a live environment.
What stands out for me is how closely PowTechnology works with customers. Customer feedback plays a big part in our process and success, feeding directly into product improvements.
PowTechnology’s process relies on excellent teamwork between the commercial, development and production teams and I’m proud to have been part of that.
One thing that has surprised me is how varied customer needs can be, even within the same industry. No two clients come with the same requirements or level of technical understanding, which means we need to be adaptable in both our technical approach and how we communicate solutions. That has pushed me to grow beyond purely technical skills.
I really value direct contact with customers, via project meetings and PowTechnology’s trade shows. Shows offer an insight into how potential customers approach IoT solutions. Many are uncertain about what they need or where to start.
Observing PowTechnology’s sales team engage with our visitors, listen to their challenges and guide them towards the possible solutions is instructive. It reinforces the importance of understanding the customer’s problem first, before proposing a technology.
Customer project meetings are invaluable. They help me understand real-world challenges and requirements far more clearly than working from a brief alone. It also means I can contribute more meaningfully and ensure that PowTechnology’s solution meets their needs.
It’s amazing to see how customers’ ideas and requirements can quickly turn into product improvements and new features. That ability to adapt and respond is something that has stood out to me throughout my first year at PowTechnology.
It’s also extremely satisfying to see the impact of my work so quickly. I’m solving real problems rather than developing features in isolation.
A good example is looking at how devices can be remotely updated and managed. As the number of deployed units grows, being able to roll out improvements and fixes remotely becomes increasingly valuable, reducing manual effort and helping customers benefit from updates more quickly. I find it rewarding to work on projects that not only solve technical challenges, but also deliver practical operational benefits.
I am passionate about continuous growth, digital transformation and hands-on engineering. I was attracted to PowTechnology by the opportunity to work across multiple sectors and to keep learning, applying emerging technologies to real-world use cases.
I’m delighted to have say, this role has surpassed my expectations, delivering variety, challenge, growth and the satisfaction of making a difference in the real world. We have a lot of new technology in the pipeline, so I’m also really excited for the future!”
