Halma acquires specialist in remotely operated pipeline inspection systems

Halma has acquired Mini-Cam, a specialist in remote equipment that visually monitors sewage and wastewater systems and has pipeline applications in the oil and gas, petrochemical and engineering sectors. Its products save water, reduce environmental damage and protect valuable pipeline networks.

Founded in 1991, Mini-Cam is based in Lancashire UK, and has a strong global presence, with distributors in 25 countries. Its software and robust electro-mechanical products enable customers to easily assess their pipeline network integrity. Flaws, leaks and obstructions can be simply and quickly detected via both routine and emergency inspection.

The acquisition offers exciting growth opportunities as aging infrastructure is ever more prone to leakage and blockage. Mini-Cam is well positioned to take advantage of the increasing need for the inspection of wastewater networks. With over 25 years of experience, the company possesses deep application knowledge and has strong customer service capabilities in the markets that it serves.

Mini-Cam’s acquisition adds to Halma’s water product offering within our Environmental & Analysis sector and will help extend the intellectual property of our existing businesses. Its technology and know-how also offer exciting opportunities for collaboration with other companies in our E&A sector.

Andrew Williams, Halma’s chief executive, commented: “Mini-Cam is a UK market leader in the sewage and waste water inspection market and is growing its presence in key international markets. Mini-Cam’s focus on novel technical know-how and application knowledge, supported by a customer-focused service and support mind-set, affords us exciting growth opportunities. Additionally, the acquisition of Mini-Cam represents a great fit with the water technologies we have within our Environmental & Analysis sector and opportunities exist for future commercial and technical collaboration with our existing E&A businesses. Our initial efforts will concentrate on further developing their successful strategic plans and supporting the Mini-Cam management team in continuing their impressive growth trajectory”.
