Fullbrook Systems process instrumentation for viscosity, chemical concentration and turbidity

Suppliers to the UK process instrumentation market for more than 30 years, Fullbrook Systems have a wealth of experience in applying their instrumentation to the Chemical, Food, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas and industry in general.

The Kemtrak range of process photometers and turbidimeters are as accurate as any laboratory instrument, making then ideal for process monitoring and control.   A one time calibration combined with zero drift and no maintenance make Kemtrak instruments a good choice.   Use of optic fibre technology means that there are no electronics at the process line.  This offers cold light measurement and zone zero Exd capability.   Kemtrak instruments are being used in measuring oil in water, interface detection, colour, fluorescent markers, filter break through and alcohol and many more besides.  Please contact our experienced engineers to discuss any potential application.

Kemtrak backscatter probes are designed to accurately measure low to extremely high turbidity directly in tanks and pipelines. The dual fiber optic design of the Kemtrak probe provides high resolution at low turbidity ranges with excellent linearity all the way up to extremely high turbidities when used with a Kemtrak NBP007 backscatter photometer.  A unique benefit of the Kemtrak backscatter immersion probe is that it does not go blind at high sample turbidities. Other probes stop working at 4 000 NTU/FNU (< 1 wt% solids) after which the signal will decrease resulting in an erroneous and misleading output. The output of the Kemtrak probe will continue to increase with sample concentration ensuring a reliable measurement.

The Platinum-Cobalt (Pt-Co) colour scale measures the “yellowness” of a liquid and is well suited for quality control and contamination detection. The Pt-Co scale is used to evaluate pollution levels in waste water and for drinking water quality control and regulation. The Pt-Co scale can also be used to measure and control the concentration of iron in groundwater. The Kemtrak DCP007 is an industrial UV-VISNIR photometer designed to accurately measure the colour of liquids. Real time measurement results are displayed in units of PCU (Pt/Co), Hazen or APHA.

Fullbrook Systems also offer process viscometers from Brookfield Engineering a company dedicated to the viscosity measurement an control in applications including printing and coating, fracturing fluids and drilling muds to shampoo and liquid hand soaps.  Brookfield are probably the best known viscometer suppliers and combined with Fullbrook Systems experience in the UK market we will be able to find a solution to your viscosity measurement requirements.   Process viscometers such as the AST100 have no moving parts and are simple to install and operate.   For more demanding  applications where controlled shear rate viscosity measurements are required, the TT100 and PV100 are also available.  Sanitary and ATEX construction are also available as standard.

The latest Brookfield viscometer is the AST-100INK – the only viscometer of its kind with accessible core. This rugged, no moving parts viscometer is designed to perform day after day under the extreme demands of the printing, coating and adhesive applications with no maintenance.

Utilizing a high frequency, micro-rotational core, which is unaffected by press vibration, this worry free AST-100INK can measure and control the viscosity of your inks, coatings and adhesives from start to finish, allowing the operators to run the process knowing that the viscosity in under control.

Can manufacturers want to increase throughput, while reducing cost per can for manufacture.  Viscosity differences at the roller or spray head are created by evaporation of solvents and influence coating thickness on the cans.  Manufacturers require a predetermined thickness with anything thicker is a waste of material.  Thicker coatings need higher temperatures or longer cure times further increasing energy consumption.  As the customer has limited control of thickness during coating due to changing viscosity, higher energy is used continuously to ensure proper curing under all conditions.

The Brookfield AST-100 automatically controls the thickness of the coatings of beverage cans, providing a consistent product quality with lower material usage. This keeps production at maximum efficiency maintaining quality coverage on every can. With improved efficiency, the AST-100 allows the reduction in the overall use of varnish and drives down manufacturing costs.  When multiplied by millions of cans, the savings are substantial and provide a payback on the instrument of less than 1 month.  Optimization of overcoat thickness allows temperature reduction and lower energy consumption. The AST-100 has worked so well that current users have purchased them for all of the decorators in their plants.

Fullbrook Systems pride themselves in handling single instrument applications with the same level of professionalism and enthusiasm as much larger projects.   We will endeavour to provide the best solution from within our capabilities and offer sound advice.
