Crystal Display Systems Ltd (CDS) has launched a new range of high-brightness LCD TFT display kits designed to simplify display integration for OEMs, system integrators and industrial equipment manufacturers.
The new range is aimed at applications where customers do not require a fully enclosed monitor, but instead need an integration-ready display subsystem that can be incorporated into their own enclosure, kiosk, control panel, embedded system or industrial equipment.
Rather than supplying only a bare TFT panel, CDS can provide a matched solution combining the LCD, suitable interface electronics, cables, connectors and LED backlight driver where required. This approach is designed to reduce engineering effort, simplify prototyping and minimise the risk of interface, cabling and component compatibility issues during development and production.
High-Brightness Solutions from 5 Inches Upwards
The range includes compact high-brightness TFT options from 5 inches upwards.
At the compact end, the CD-42050W-L0WV1A is a 5-inch, 800 × 480 TN display capable of delivering up to 10,000 nits of brightness. The module also features 384-zone local dimming, supports 16.7 million colours, and is rated at 20.4 W, making it suitable for applications operating in severe ambient-light conditions.
A 7-inch option is also available, offering a 1024 × 600 IPS panel with 3,000-nit brightness, 384 local-dimming zones and 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles.
More Than Just an LCD Panel
For many OEM projects, integrating a TFT display involves significantly more than selecting the panel itself.
Engineers must also consider the correct controller board, LVDS, eDP, TTL or other signal requirements, power, backlight control, brightness adjustment, cabling and long-term component compatibility.
CDS has developed the new display kit range to bring these elements together as a fully compatible subsystem, allowing customers to retain control of their own mechanical and product design while reducing the need to source and validate each display component separately.
A typical CDS display kit can include:
☑️ Standard or high-brightness TFT LCD display
☑️ Interface electronics, including HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort options where appropriate
☑️ Cables and connectors
☑️ LED backlight driver where required
Customisation for Industrial Applications
For higher-volume or application-specific projects, CDS can also support customisation across the display system.
Options can include:
✅ Display brightness
✅ Interface electronics
✅ Cabling
✅ Mechanical integration
✅ Touch technology
✅ Display configuration
This enables the display subsystem to be developed around the requirements of the end equipment rather than forcing the equipment design around a standard monitor.
The range is particularly suited to industrial equipment, embedded systems, outdoor applications, kiosks, transportation systems, control panels and other OEM products where brightness, integration flexibility and long-term reliability are important.
Optical Bonding for Improved Sunlight Readability
CDS can also support optical bonding for high-brightness display applications.
By eliminating the air gap between the TFT and protective cover glass, optical bonding can reduce internal reflections, glare and light refraction, helping to improve contrast and readability in high-ambient-light conditions.
The bonded construction can also improve resistance to contamination, condensation, vibration and impact, making it suitable for demanding outdoor and industrial environments.
Simplifying Display Integration
The new range has been developed to help OEMs and system integrators reduce the complexity associated with display integration.
By supplying matched display components as a single engineered subsystem, CDS aims to help customers achieve:
☑️ Less component sourcing
☑️ Reduced compatibility risk
☑️ Faster prototyping
☑️ Easier integration
☑️ Greater control over final equipment design
