The Sunclix DC connectors from Phoenix Contact are now approved for a system voltage of up to 2,000 V DC in accordance with the TÜV Rheinland 2 PfG 2925/01.23 test specification.

The test specification creates the basis for higher voltage levels in photovoltaic systems and enables large power stations in particular to significantly reduce their installation costs. The higher voltages reduce the need for cables, connectors, and string combiner boxes, which lowers the overall costs of the systems.

The updated test specification defines additional safety requirements for connectors in the range above 1,500 V DC. The Sunclix connectors meet these requirements due to their class 0 basic insulation. Operation with 2,000 V is only permitted in restricted access areas. For use in a 2,000 V environment, an additional “2,000 V” PV warning label is also required, which must be affixed in the immediate vicinity of the connector.
