3D sensors for inspection, guidance and measurement

Multipix Imaging have announced a new distribution agreement with SmartRay, specialists in 3D sensors for measurements, quality control and robot control.

High-tech products “Made in Germany”, the 3D-sensors from SmartRay, need only a little space and can be installed easily and rapidly. SmartRay sensors combine laser triangulation with image formation technology to create detailed 3D images that can be processed by 3rd party software, including MVTec’s powerful HALCON library. The latest ECCO family brings a new design philosophy to the 3D sensor market that delivers high performance, small size and lightweight construction.

With the help of this technology, manufacturers can improve the quality of their products, optimise automation processes and lower production costs.

Julie Busby, director, Multipix Imaging commented, “We are delighted to be introducing SmartRay and their 3D cameras to the UK market.  Customers cannot fail to be impressed with the ECCO range which offer a 3D camera for all budgets and applications. The latest model , the ECCO 75 is the first sensor of this type in the world and offers an image resolution at full HD quality. Every 3D-profile created by the sensor consists of 1,920 3D pixels rendering a resolution of 1,75 µm in all three dimensions. With all ECCO cameras supported in MVTec’s HALCON software, Multipix customers are able to create powerful 3D machine vision solutions”.
