Ultrasonic Clamp On Flowmeter Calibration
Extended flow calibration range for both water flowmeter calibration rigs now enables the calibration of a larger range of the popular ultrasonic clamp on flowmeters. Having been restricted to a few pipe diameters for the clamp on meters, the facility now has pipe diameters covering 10 to 150 mm line size allowing for the calibration of clamp-on meters that require the larger pipe diameter for a successful installation. Ultrasonic clamp on flowmeter calibrations can be performed on many of the leading manufacturers including, GE Druck, RS Hydro, Panametrics, Micronics, Flexim, Siemens, Krohne, Sierra, Flotec UK, Katronic, Sonic Pro and Eesiflo. All flowmeter calibrations can be reported in customer units for either volume flow or fluid velocity. Alternatively, velocity calibrations can be completed on our hydrocarbon rig when required.
One of the few UK laboratories to offer UKAS accredited air flow calibrations on any type of meter and from any manufacturer for volume flow and mass flow covering a range of 1 cc/min to 1250 l/sec. Experience with repair, service and calibration for air intake laminar flowmeters from Meriam, Viscous flowmeters from Cussons and vortex blow-by meters ECM. Having a range of upstream/downstream, vacuum, open to atmosphere and pressurised transfer standards, all flowmeter types can be calibrated whether this be an inlet or exhaust type meter as well as the standard inline meters common seen. Thermal, dP and laminar flow meter sizes to 300 mm can be accommodated in the test rig. ISO 17025 UKAS accredited calibrations available for all meter types.
Year after year the air velocity calibration procedures and associated reference standards are enhanced to provide an ever-improving measurement uncertainty for our customers. For many years the facility has been held as the UK’s highest accuracy UKAS accredited wind tunnel across a wind speed range 0.05 to 80 m/s. The anemometer calibration services are undertaken in one of two of the laboratories’ universally adapted wind tunnel, offering extreme accuracy in both low and high-speed operating modes. All types of air velocity sensors can be calibrated from pitot static tubes, yaw probes, CTA probes, vane anemometers, thermal anemometers, omni-spherical probes and ultrasonic anemometers. To ensure the laboratory maintains its International recognition all calibrations can be undertaken under the ILAC MRA laboratory co-operation agreement. UKAS accredited air velocity calibrations can also be undertaken on type E and type S pitot static tubes for environmental emissions requirements, isokinetic probes and instruments covering MCERTS, ATTMA and EPA federal requirements.
Flow Test & Cleaning Specialists
Leading service provider within the gas and fluid flow industry; advising on best measurement testing solutions for instruments components and sub-assemblies. A truly independent facility for product development, durability testing, type approval, servicing and ongoing calibration support. The world leading test facility houses a suite of product validation test rigs for thermal cycling, pressure pulsation, ageing, corrosion, burst, vibration, cleanliness assessments on any type of flow meter or thermal fluid component. The testing laboratories are equipped to deal with fuels, oils, paints, water, glycols, air, exhaust, waste gases and compressed air systems under varying pressures, temperatures and flow rates. Our UKAS accredited laboratory provides support for flow, pressure, temperature, air velocity and electrical test parameters. All the company’s testing facilities are traceable to national standards and meet the requirements outlined in ISO 17025:2017.
Product Cleanliness for Servo Hydraulic systems has been a recent addition to the laboratory to ensure system performance is maintained in critical component assemblies. The ISO Class 6 cleanroom provides a suite of cleaning benches, extraction techniques and analysis methods allowing the company to provide bespoke cleaning and cleanliness assessment for any reasonably sized component. Various analysis techniques for visual, ultraviolet, gravimetric and microscopic particle analysis can be reported for each individual component. To further enhance the service for the aviation, medical and the naval sectors a secondary Class 6 cleanroom is devoted for “oil free” oxygen clean service components. The facility adjoins the calibration cleanroom for UKAS Oxygen Pressure Calibration which now offers gauge, transmitter and sensor calibration in an oil free system across 0 – 400 barg (UKAS) and 0-700 barg (Std Traceable). Operational procedures to ASTM G93, MIL-STD-1330D, EIGA and SITA are encompassed within the laboratory capabilities.
Laboratory Developments for 2020
The laboratory continues to provide heavy investment into its test and calibration services and will be offering increased UKAS accredited services later in the year for temperature, humidity, dew point and further onsite parameters. With the testing facility also offering vibration testing, FTIR fluid analysis and further certified oxygen cleaning for fittings and hoses.
