WHAT'S ON SHOW

Here's just a selection of some of the new and innovative products which will be available for you to see at the show.

APC-Hero with their new representative for Scotland, Abercorn Electronics, will be showing the new range of ruggedised PCs from Advantech. Small size, embedded operating system on solid state drive and extended temperature range are key features of the range. Complemented by a wide range of single board computers and touch panel PCs, the Advantech range offers great solutions with longevity of supply.

A range of down-hole electronic components from sister company APC-HiRel includes high temperature mica, ceramic and Teflon capacitors, extended temperature rectifers, resistors and DC-DC converters will also be introduced to Aderdeen visitors.

New 4/20mA loop-powered flameproof indicators
Two new flameproof loop powered 4/20mA indicators have been introduced by
BEKA to complement their extensive range of intrinsically safe and Type nL certified instruments. The BR323AL is housed in an epoxy painted aluminium enclosure and the BR323SS, which is suitable for use in corrosive and marine environments, has a stainless steel enclosure. Both models have ATEX Group II, Category 2GD, EEx d IIC T6 certification, plus FM explosion proof and dust ignition-proof approval. The enclosures provide IP66 and NEMA 4X ingress protection and can be supplied with either two M20 or two ½ inch NPT threaded entries. These new indicators are supplied calibrated to customer requirements free of charge, but can easily be re-calibrated on site using free software running on a personal computer. Units of measurement, which appear below the main display, and data for the 128-segment lineariser & square root extractor are also entered via this software.

Low flow measurement taken care of...

Bell Flow Systems
now offer mini-flow meters to cope with a wide variety of extremely Low flow liquid measurement applications … Mini-flow meters form part of the Macnaught Flow Measurement range, which Bell Flow Systems represents in the UK.

In April 2008 Bell Flow Systems the Buckingham based flow measurement specialists added the Macnaught range of positive displacement flow meters to their already extensive range. Macnaught offer oval gear flow solutions with port sizes from 1/8" to 4" in Aluminium, Brass, Resin & Stainless Steel with a variety of flanges available. Outputs offered include pulse & analogue signals.
Bell Flow also offer a range of ATEX approved Stainless Steel turbine meters with sizes up to 6" for both gas & fluids. Both ranges can be interrogated with the Fluidwell Range of LCD flow rate monitors, totalisers & batch controllers.

Mini-flow meters will provide applications solutions wherever accurate low flow measurement is required on liquids as diverse as Petrol to Paint. There are three sizes of meter in the mini-flow range. The smallest model starts at 0.001 Litres/Min and the largest model starts at 0.25 Litres/Min and covers the range up to 500 L/Hr. All sizes are available in low and high pressure designs up to 551 Bar with a choice of pulse output options or digital indicators and batch controllers for safe and hazardous area applications. Mini-flow meters are based on the proven oval rotor principle, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability. Precision engineering eliminates pockets in which liquid can stagnate within the measuring chamber of the flow meter. A pair of intermeshing ellipsoidal gears rotate on shafts and sweep the chamber. Each rotation measures a small volume of trapped liquid, independent of viscosity or density. Magnets located in the gears enable each rotation to be picked up by sensors located in a secondary chamber within the meter body. A nominal K-factor or pulses per litre value is arrived at in this way.

New Fluidwell F124 PID Ratio Flow Controller

The new Fluidwell PID ratio flow controller F124 for closed loop applications is now available in ATEX and non hazardous versions.

The F124 is a key product with opportunities for bespoke extension into our controller product family, where the F120 single loop PID controller is also now available . The F124 is designed for ratio control applications for example:

• Blending and mixing two flows to   produce specific compositions or
  physical properties.
• Injecting chemicals or additives into larger flows.
• Maintaining a correct air and fuel mixture.
• Adjusting heat input in proportion to material flow.

BFi OPTiLAS Ltd, a leading supplier of a wide range of sensors, will be demonstrating the new MS9000 accelerometer from Colibrys.

It is an extra small, high end product dedicated to applications in the field of inertial sensing. With excellent long term bias stability and an integrated temperature sensor suitable for the harsh environment, this new generation of products comes in a LCC20 (8.9mm x 8.9mm) ceramic package, some three times smaller than current sensors and in ranges from ±2g to ±200g. These sensors can operate over extended temperature ranges, with just a few milli g bias stability guaranteed over the extended lifetime.

BFi OPTiLAS also represent OFS (A Furukawa Company) who specialize in Optical Fibers. We will be available to discuss their geophysical fibers for harsh environments which have been optimized for the downhole environment. They use a dual coating system, of carbon and PYROCOAT. The Carbon provides a hermetic seal to the glass surface at all temperatures and protects against hydrogen ingression at up to 125 degrees C. This dramatically extends the fiber lifetime by stopping water-activated crack growth. The PYROCOAT layer is high temperature polyimide (300 degrees C).

ATEX products new to Scottish process industry

Burkert Fluid Control Systems will have their innovative Type 8650 EExia valve system integrating Burkert’s pneumatic solenoid valves with Siemens’ ET200iSP I/O modules, for ATEX Zones 1 and 21 and to IEC-Ex. This concept simplifies the installation of these separate, complex I/O devices, leading to big reductions in design costs and commissioning.

Burkert’s Type 8643 I/O box will be there, which incorporates Foundation Fieldbus protocol and will be joined soon by Profibus PA.

Other products will display Burkert’s extensive hazardous and safe area technology, including hygienic conductivity and non-glass pH electrodes.

Optical strain gauges are unbeatable for sustained load tests
HBM's optical strain gauges (SG) now have an improved fatigue life; 10 million load cycles at an alternating strain of ±3.000µm/m can be attained. This makes the sensors unbeatable compared with available alternatives when sustained loading is tested, for example, on fibre-reinforced plastics at high alternating strain.Optical strain gauges are particularly suitable for measurement in potentially explosive areas and on high-current and high-voltage components. The relative wavelength variation resulting from a mechanical strain is linear over a strain range of more than ±10.000 µm/m. Based on fibre Bragg gratings, several sensors can be arranged inside a single glass fibre to significantly reduce installation costs.

The Ideal Solution for Your Industry
Every industry has its own peculiarities. This is especially true for water treatment and chemical fluid handling processes. We at
ProMinent recognise this and have adapted our products and services accordingly. However, ProMinent does not have a team of Specialists for each and every industry either. Therefore we have two business areas with different focuses: Chemical Handling Fluid (CFH) and Water Treatment Solutions (WTS)

CHF: System Solutions for Chemical Fluid Handling
In the ProMinent business area Chemical Fluid Handling (CFH), we offer substantially more than just, individual components, of dosing technology. Our solutions cover the entire process chain that a liquid chemical has to pass at a customer’s site: storage, transfer to the dosing point and dosing neutralization.

WTS: Process Solutions for Water Treatment
ProMinent’s business area, Water Treatment Solutions (WTS) concentrates on the Beverages, Food, Drinking Water Supply and Swimming Pool Industries. For these industries we have extensive industry specific know-how. We offer a complete system solution for water treatment.
