Designed to survive in temperatures up to 704°C, PCB Piezotronics’ series EX611A20 charge output accelerometer can withstand the challenges of extreme heat environments, such as gas turbines and nuclear power plants.
Packaged in an hermetically-sealed Inconel industrial housing, the device is ATEX approved for Ex ia IIC T6 to T710C and comes with integral 3m hard-line cable terminating in a LEMO connector as standard; with other connectors and cable lengths available to order. According to the company, its shear mode sensing element is far less sensitive to thermal transients than the compression mode sensors often used.
Gas turbine applications include bearing health monitoring, condition monitoring and structural damage monitoring; but they can also be used in the commissioning of nuclear power plants.
